Ramdisk

Configuring Internet Explorer for Ramdisk:

1) Open Internet Explorer and go to Internetoptions.
2) Under the tab General, go to browserhistory, and configuration. Change folder to the created virtual disk. Press ok. The system will log out.

Configuring Mozilla Firefox for Ramdisk:

1) Type about:config into the address bar, accept the warning ("I'll be careful, I promise!")
2) Find browser.cache.disk.enable and change it to true.
3) Right mouseclick, New string.
4) Type browser.cache.disk.parent_directory into the box and press OK.
5) Type the path of your BrowserCache directory
X:\BrowserCache (where 'X' might be another letter); press OK.
6) Close and restart Firefox.

You can use Ramdisk to speed up some programs on windows. If you have a large amount of Ram, you could make a virtual disk in it, so that some programs like Internet Explorer or Firefox can work much faster than usuial. Dont forget that Ram has much bigger write en read speed than a Hd or SSD. Nowdays you have aloth of Ramdisk software that can make the virtual disk for you. I prefer Ramdisk of Dataram, because it is freeware (up to 4GB disk size). It creates a virtual RAM drive, or block of memory, which your computer treats as if it were a disk drive. By storing files and programs into memory, you can speed up internet load times and disk-to-disk activities, accelerate databases and reduce compile times. Ramdisk installs the drivers on the kernel of your system, that assigns the Ram as a physical disk. Thatswhy you can also format your virtual disk. Look for Ramdisk on google, and install the freeware version.

The Ramdisk software works the best for Internet or Firefox. Becuase the cache-files can be stored in this virtual disk. But dont forget that Ramdisk flush all the stored info when you boot your system. If you dont wanna lose the data on virtual disk, you can configure in Ramdisk that it loads a disk image at startup (see under the tab Load and Save).

Just look at google for Ramdisk from Dataram, install the freeware version. You can buy it later, if you like it. After install you must configure Internet Explorer and other browsers.
